Hills Schools Industry Partnership inc. (HillsSIP) is a Local Community Partnership (LCP), an independent body of qualified staff who support local secondary schools.
HillsSIP partners with industry and employer groups, schools, professional career advisers, community organisations, parents, young people, youth service providers and other government and community organisations to assist all young people aged 13-19 years to gain the skills, experience and professional guidance to help them achieve a successful transition through school, and from school to further education, training and employment.
This will be achieved through the facilitation of Structured Workplace Learning.
HillsSIP was originally established in 1999 by the Hills Chamber of Commerce with ECEF funding to facilitate workplace learning for Year 11 and 12 students studying VET courses.

Structured Workplace Learning
The Structured Workplace Learning Program (SWL) is an initiative that aims to provide workplace opportunities to students to assist them make a successful transition through school and from school to further education, training, employment and active participation in the community.
Specifically, the SWL program provides students with structured learning opportunities in a real workplace. This structured work placement is a mandatory component of a Vocational Education and Training (VET) in Schools course undertaken by senior secondary students. The placement provides on the job training and mentoring that develops the students' technical and generic employability skills. The skills are assessed, usually following the work placement, by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). The VET qualifications are recognised nationally by industry and education systems.
