Parents as Career Guides Wrap Up

Over 450 parents and Year 9, 10, 11 and 12 students braved the rain and attended the Hornsby and Hills events in May. Fifty one schools were represented. Of the evaluations received 80% agreed an overview of pathways for young people was well represented. The speakers covered areas including Gen Y, the UAI, TAFE courses,  Apprenticeships & Traineeships and Talking Careers with Teenagers. Each evening concluded with questions to the panel of speakers. Parents and students also took the opportunity to talk to the speakers directly with more specific questions at the conclusion of the official presentations.

We received feedback on particular topics of a general nature that could be included in the program in the future and potential projects to assist Y9-12 in making career choices. These suggestions will be assessed and reviewed for future use.
