What will PBC* do?
PBC* = Partnership Broker Consultants
The Partnership Broker program is one important investment (but only one) in achieving the goals of the National Partnership on Youth Attainment and Transition. The particular contribution of Partnership Brokers is to establish, and make more robust, sustainable partnerships between and among education and training providers, parents/and families, business and industry and community groups; partnerships that will improve education and transition outcomes for young people, in particular for young people from within the region that the Partnership Broker functions. The core business of Partnership Brokers is to support these partnerships to bring about a strategic and whole of community approach that will complement existing programs and initiatives. A significant number of these programs and initiatives will be clearly led by a particular stakeholder, and be heavily dependent upon the expertise within one organization e.g. a school, and a few may not even require partnerships and collaboration with other stakeholders. However, the majority of programs and initiatives that are dedicated to improving education and transition outcomes will require the active engagement of more than one stakeholder. The role and special contributions of Partnership Brokers is to focus on such areas; needs and challenges that by their very nature demand collaboration across the stakeholder groups and require the shared thinking and planning that underpins a partnership approach. Such areas are clearly identified in the Partnership Broker program guidelines;
- extend learning beyond the classroom
- increase student engagement in learning
- deepen and enrich learning experiences
- lift attainment and broaden personal aspirations
- facilitate successful transition from school to further education, training or employment.
The role of the strategic Partnership Broker is to reinforce the capacity of partnerships to add value and bring about lasting change. Rather than being the actual “changemaker”, brokers facilitate partnerships to take the lead in that process of change.*

We will be working closely with existing networks over the next few weeks to seek further information on Challenges and Opportunities faced by those working within the regions. We will be conducting a survey shortly, but if you wish to comment on any particular aspects where a partnership could add value please feel free to contact me.
